(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The ذكذكتسئµ hosts Future Teacher Academy (FTA)—a week-long experiential camp for students aspiring to a career in teaching, particularly in the STEM fields—Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8 on ذكذكتسئµ's Leavenworth Campus, 4100 South 4th Street.

The Academy is open to high school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior years, as well as to students who currently attend community colleges. There is no cost to attend ذكذكتسئµ's FTA.

Academy students will have the opportunity to design high-impact lessons, get acclimated with state-of-the art classroom technology (including robotics and 3D printers), and hear from guest speakers, including Kansas Teacher of the Year winners and nominees and work with local STEM teachers and university faculty. Students will also earn two hours of college credit (equivalent of ذكذكتسئµ's ED250—Teaching as a Profession), and are invited to stay overnight in ذكذكتسئµ's residence halls (optional).

"This is an incredible opportunity for any student thinking of becoming a teacher, particularly in science, technology, engineering, or math," explained Dr. Gwen Landever, ذكذكتسئµ academic dean. "Students have the chance to immerse themselves in a career field they love, while being introduced to various approaches to teaching that will truly make a lasting impact on their future students' learning."

To submit an application or for more information on ذكذكتسئµ's FTA, visit , or contact Dr. Landever at Gwen.Landever@stmary.edu.
