Dr. Jim Zimmerman joined the ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ in 2007. He has spent more than 15 years in intercollegiate
athletics, and most recently served as an NCAA Division III athletic director.
Prior to that, Zimmerman served as assistant athletic director for sports information,
assistant men’s basketball coach and head golf coach at Jamestown College.
Zimmerman currently serves as faculty athletic representative for ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ and is a member
of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Executive Council, serving as
Chair of the KCAC in 2025-27.
Zimmerman received his Bachelor’s Degree from Fort Hays State University and his Master
of Sports Science degree from the United States Sports University, Daphne, Alabama.
Zimmerman coached high school basketball and football for three years in Kansas and
was a volunteer assistant basketball coach at Montana State University for two years.
An expert in intercollegiate sport and coaching, Zimmerman emphasizes the sociological aspect of sport with class discussion, ethical
dilemmas, and interviewing techniques applicable to the sports industry.
Zimmerman resides in Lansing, Kansas, with his wife, Amy. They have three boys in college. Brett attends the University of Missouri–St. Louis, JJ attends the University of Saint Mary, and Carson is a freshman at the University of Evansville.
